What is a Dabber?
Dabbing has become a popular trend in cannabis culture. Dabbing consist of inhaling cannabis concentrates. Most dabs involve a high amount of concentrated cannabis, which is heated, and the vaporized oil is inhaled. This usually results in a very intense sensation of high.
A dabber is a small equipment or tool used in the dabbing process. The dabber is a straight tool with sharp edges, which is usually heatproof. A dabber is used to expose concentrates like wax, shatter, or BHO to a hot surface on an oil rig pipe. Therefore, a dabber is a piece of equipment which picks up small pieces of the extract and dab it on the hot nail.
Dabbers are comprised of glass or metal (stainless steel) and can aid smokers to take dabs without messing up the place safely. Some people think that a dabber refers to someone who dabs, but the term attributes to a tool, and not a person.
Dabs are another form of concentrated cannabis extract that has highly risen into popularity in the modern pop culture, overtaking several methods like smoking and vaping. Although dabs deal with cannabis extract packed with a high concentration of cannabinoids, there exist several kinds of dabs to at your disposal. The popular types of dabs include shatter, wax and butane hash oil (also just known as BHO in short form).
The techniques used in processing these different types of dabs are what makes them unique from another. Dabs have become a popular method of cannabis consumption nowadays because they consist of a much higher concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (also known as just THC).
The process of dabbing cant be successful without the use of a device called a dab rig, which is like a bong. The tools needed for dabbing include a water pipe, a nail, a dome, a torch, and the last but not the least, a dab tool (the dabber, also called a wand).
Dabber tools
A Dab Rig
This is an essential tool for dabbing since it's impossible to dab without it. A dab rig" (a.k.a. oil rig), refers to the modified water pipe that has become a necessary dabbing tool. Rather than using a connector for a typical glass bowl found on a bong or bubbler, you have either a male or female glass joint (14 mm or 18 mm usually) which can keep the nail firm. This gives the consumer the chance to heat the nail and place the concentrate onto it, which leads to vaporization.
A "Nail"
There exist two primary categories of nails on the market nowadays, including domeless titanium nails or quartz nails, often called "bangers." Avoid using borosilicate glass nails, since they can easily break and shatter under high temperatures, which could be hazardous. The term "domeless" references the first generations of nails, which needed a glass dome to surround them and catch the vapor. The industry has slowly changed the type of setup which requires additional tools and coordination and moved to a setup which involves the domeless setup, in which the vapor passes through a hole or slit down into the rig.
